ENT, Head and Neck Surgery

OtoRhinoLaryngology/ ENT, encompasses issues with the Ear, Nose, and Throat, as well as the overall Head and Neck and base of skill region, including facial plastic surgery. We provide cutting-edge medical and surgical care to persons with ear, nose, throat, and head and neck problems.

ENT specialists often collaborate with the departments of neurosurgery, oncology, and other related disciplines to provide the finest comprehensive therapy for patients with benign and malignant head and neck tumours.

In short, with the exception of the brain (unless it’s the base of the brain) and eyes, ENT specialists handle pretty much everything from the collarbone up, for all ages, including children.

What are some of the conditions that ENTs treat?

General otolaryngologists handle a wide range of problems and do not specialise in any one area of the head and neck. However, some ENT professionals choose to specialise in one of the following subspecialties:

  • The ear (otology/neurotology):

A branch of otology that deals with the study of hearing.

Hearing and balance are essential for how we live our lives. Ear infections, hearing loss, dizziness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), ear, face, or neck discomfort, and other problems are treated by ENT specialists.

  • Nose (rhinology):

Our noses help us breathe by preventing potentially hazardous foreign bodies, allergies, and other agents from entering our bodies. ENT doctors also treat deviated septum, rhinitis, sinusitis, sinus headaches and migraines, nasal blockage and surgery, skull-base tumours, including those inside the cranial cavity, and other conditions.

  • Throat (laryngology):

Disorders that impair our ability to correctly talk and swallow can have a significant influence on our lives and vocations. Sore throats, hoarseness, GERD, infections, throat tumours, airway and vocal cord abnormalities, and more are all treated by ENT specialists.

  • Thyroid/Head and Neck:

The head and neck contain some of our body’s most essential organs, making them particularly vulnerable to tumours and cancer. ENT experts treat benign neck masses, thyroid problems such as benign and malignant tumours, Grave’s disease, enlarged thyroid glands, parathyroid illness, and more, in addition to head and neck cancers.

  • Sleep apnea/ snoring:

Our ability to breathe and sleep soundly throughout the night has an impact on how we live our lives and work. Sleep-disordered breathing, nasal and airway obstruction, snoring and sleep apnea, and other conditions are treated by ENT specialists.

  • Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery:

Facial trauma and the resultant change in appearance caused by an accident, injury, birth defect, or side effect of a medical condition can be upsetting. Cleft palates, drooping eyelids, hair loss, ear deformities, facial paralysis, trauma reconstruction, head and neck cancer reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery of the face are all treated by ENT specialists in facial plastic surgery.

  • Pediatrics:
Children require special attention. Birth defects of the head and neck, developmental delays, ear infections, tonsil and adenoid infections, airway issues, asthma and allergies, and more are all treated by ENT experts.
